Typical of great Kenyan coffees, this lot is expressive, with blackberry and stone fruit notes. The high altitude and favourable microclimate, combined with careful handpicking and processing, result in a beautiful coffee.

Both the Chania and Muringato rivers traverse Nyeri Hills Farm, with beautiful valleys covered in natural vegetation. The bush shrubs provide an alternative source of traditional medicine. To support environmental sustainability standards, both exotic and indigenous trees have been planted within the coffee fields in recent years. The planting of native grasses and trees in areas prone to erosion helps protect and maintain the land.

Ownership of Nyeri Hills Farm dates back to the 1890s, when Kenya was still a British colony. First planted in 1914, it was among the earliest coffee plantations established in East Africa. Its large size remains unmatched in the region, and its wet mill, constructed in 1934, is still in operation today.

Roasting Note: A balanced, lighter roast with increased heat through the second half of the roast aids expansion and development. This keeps the berry notes bright and crisp while maintaining high flavour clarity.

Brewing Note: A 1:17 ratio with a higher brew temperature works well, as this coffee is exceptionally clean and becomes sweeter and brighter at higher temperatures.
