EXTRA NOTES ON SETTING UP FROM THE INDUSTRY BEANS TEAM
We've been working with De'Longhi espresso machines for the past year, and we've learned a few tips & tricks ourselves! Here are our top tips to make set up a breeze:
Washing your machine accessories:
It can be easy to skip this step, but make sure to do this before using your machine as it can affect the taste of your coffee ☕️
Attaching the Hopper (Bean Container):
This one is important! Please do not add beans to the machine until this is attached correctly!
If not installed correctly, you'll see a flashing bean alarm. To ensure the container is locked in correctly the padlock on the front of the bean container should line up with the arrow in front of the bean container. This can be quite hard to do the first few times, so make sure you push against the resistance until the container actually clicks in and the light stops flashing.
Completing the Water Hardness Test:
A super important step for any coffee machine; please make sure to do this so you don't encounter issues down the track.
Tip: if you find that the descaling light is illuminated when your machine is new or in your first 4 months of using it, this may be because the machine hasn't been set up for water hardness correctly, simply repeat the process outlined in this video.
Priming Your Machine:
Priming the machine is important at the beginning of use to make sure the water lines are full of water. Remember this action anytime you fill the water tank. Don't forget to always check that the water tank is full of water before using your machine!
Tip: if ever the water alarm does not turn off, there may be an air bubble in the line.
Rinsing the Steam Circuit:
Again, this may seem like a step you can easily skip, but if not cleared properly before use it can really impact the taste of your coffee ☕️
That's it for now! We have specific guides for making your first coffee and cleaning and maintaining your machine, check out our other training resources for more details.

My machine arrived yesterday, it’s gorgeous, but it was doing my head in, I watched the videos 6 times and still couldn’t get the grinder to work. I watch a youtube, and the guy explained step by step, and I got it. Machine working, now it’s time to play Barista and get the coffee exactly right to my taste, but it might take me awhile. Thanks Industry Beans, your coffee and customer service is excellent .
