Now Roasting: Our Spring Seasonal Espresso & Filter Blends

Every three months at Industry Beans, we create two unique blends that capture the feeling around us: a Seasonal Espresso and a Seasonal Filter. For the season that asks you to step back outside into the light, we've built these blends around florals, citrus and a lingering, uplifting sweetness. Both are built entirely from washed coffees this season – four components from three countries, chosen for their sweet fruit notes and clarity, an antidote to Winter's depth.

Spring Espresso Blend

Juicy and vibrant

This season's espresso blend is fresh, fruity and lively – Spring is definitely in the air. Spring Espresso brings together two coffees from East Africa in equal parts, both washed, and grown at elevation.

Blend Components

Abdurahman Ababulgu, Ethiopia

Washed | 74110, 74112 | 2,050 masl

The first component in the blend is a coffee from Ethiopian producer Abdurahman Ababulgu, who represents a new generation of coffee growers. After six years managing the renowned Duromina Cooperative, Abdurahman returned to his hometown of Kedamessa to establish his own farm, where he cultivates the 74110 and 74112 varietals with a focus on quality and innovation.

Adumu, Kenya

Washed | Batian, SL28, SL34, Ruiru 11 | 1,700 masl

Adumu is a carefully selected lot from Central Kenya, drawing on coffees sourced from one or more of the region's renowned producing areas. Lots are chosen on cup profile rather than a single farm's name, which allows for a level of selectivity that is difficult to achieve any other way. The four varietals grown here – Batian, SL28, SL34 and Ruiru 11 – are the backbone of Kenyan coffee, and fully washed processing is what gives them their definition. Together they showcase the juicy fruit character and complexity that defines classic Kenyan coffee. This component brings raspberry, a cola-like sweetness and real complexity.

Tastes Like

In the cup, Spring Espresso is vibrant and expressive, with aromas of jasmine up front leading into bright stone fruit and citrus notes, backed up with a sweet cola finish.

Brewing Notes

We recommend brewing at a 1:2.5 ratio. A slightly longer extraction will draw out additional sweetness and allow the fruit-forward characteristics to fully develop.

Spring Filter Blend

Sweet and zesty

Every shift in season gives us a reason to create a new limited filter blend, and Spring might be our best reason yet. This year's Spring Filter Blend captures the feeling in the air with fragrant floral notes, like a fresh bouquet blooming delicately in your cup. Spring Filter brings together two unique coffee origins in equal parts. The Chelbesa from Ethiopia contributes a silky mouthfeel and complex floral aromatics, while the Kwongi from Papua New Guinea adds body and sweet nougat notes.

Blend Components

Chelbesa, Ethiopia

Washed | Ethiopian Heirloom | 2,200 masl

Chelbesa sits in Gedeb, within the Yirgacheffe growing region – the name most closely associated with Ethiopian florals, and the reason this blend smells the way it does. Farmers in the Chelbesa area cultivate without the use of chemical fertilisers or pesticides. At 2,200 metres, the region's high elevation encourages slow cherry maturation, allowing more time for complex flavours and delicate floral characteristics to develop. This component brings the silky mouthfeel and the complex floral aromatics.

Kwongi, Papua New Guinea

Washed | Arusha, Mondo Novo, Typica | 1,800 masl

Kwongi is a limited-edition lot from the Eastern Highlands of Papua New Guinea, sourced by coffee farmer, entrepreneur, husband and father of seven, Wilson Mathias. Grown by smallholder farmers on the steep mountain slopes of the Upper Asaro region, this coffee reflects the dedication and resilience of Papua New Guinea's coffee-growing communities. It is not an origin we get to work with often, which is part of why we wanted it here. This component brings the body and the sweet nougat notes.

Tastes Like

This cup is floral from start to finish, with the classic Yirgacheffe bergamot doing the heavy lifting on the aroma. Expect flavour notes of floral jasmine and citrus, and a long, candy-sweet nougat finish.

Brewing Notes

We recommend starting with a 1:17 ratio and a coarser grind size to encourage a cleaner extraction, bringing out the blend's florals and best clarity.
