Meet Our Spring Single Origin Coffees
Each season, alongside our Espresso and Filter blends, we release a selection of single origins that reflect the environment around us.
This Spring, we're pleased to showcase five single origins across four countries, each roasted to reveal its own distinct character.
From the chocolate-driven depth of El Salvador to the tropical, fruit-forward expressiveness of Ethiopia and Kenya – sweetness is the thread that runs through them all.
Single Origin Espresso
El Angel, El Salvador
Rich and chocolatey
Natural | Custaleco | 1,400 masl
The Apaneca-Ilamatepec range rises through Ahuachapán along a ridge of dormant volcanoes. Here, rich mineral soils and cool cloud cover create the ideal conditions for slow cherry maturation, allowing coffees from the region to develop their distinctive complexity and depth of flavour.
Owned by the Méndez family for around 25 years, the El Angel farm is named after their daughter and managed by Carlos and Gerardo Méndez, the second generation. Together, they continue the family's focus on quality, sustainability and producing exceptional coffees, working alongside a team of around 20 people during harvest and processing to hand-select only the ripest cherries.
Tastes Like
A rich and chocolatey espresso, led by honey and dark chocolate, with a rounded cashew finish.
Brewing Notes
We recommend starting with a 1:2.2 ratio to enhance the espresso’s syrupy sweetness. A longer contact time will help build a richer texture.
Single Origin Espresso
Cangual, Honduras
Clean and rounded
Washed | Catui | 1,700 masl
Finca Cangual is a smallholder farm located in San Juan, Intibucá, Honduras, managed by Raúl Aguilar and his family.
Grown at 1,700 metres above sea level, cherries are fully washed, fermented for more than two days, and slowly dried on solar dome dryers to build depth of flavour.
This is the most complex Honduran lot we tasted on the table this season, brewing an espresso layered with dark fruit and quiet sweetness. Expect notes of red plum, dates and raisins, with delicate vanilla running through to a citrus-driven finish of orange zest and smooth milk chocolate.
Tastes Like
A clean and rounded filter, with vanilla and red plum sweetness and a soft almond finish.
Brewing Notes
We recommend a 1:2.2 ratio to enhance the espresso’s sweet stone fruit character, with the longer contact time adding further depth and complexity. This high-altitude Catuai responds well to extended extraction, allowing the dark fruit and vanilla notes to shine while maintaining balance and avoiding bitterness.
Single Origin Filter
Hadeso, Ethiopia
Tropical and complex
Natural | Ethiopian Heirloom | 2,100 masl
We have long been championing, and enjoying, natural coffees from Ethiopia's Guji region, and are particularly excited to showcase this lot from Shakiso.
Offering a fresh perspective on the berry-forward profiles the region is known for, this coffee brings a more tropical expression, with layers of vibrant fruit complexity and a delicate blueberry finish.
The Guji region is located approximately 300km south of Addis Ababa, within Ethiopia's Oromia zone. While once grouped together with Yirgacheffe and Sidamo, Guji was recognised as its own distinct coffee-growing region in 2002. Named after the Oromo people, who have farmed the land for generations, Guji's coffees are now celebrated as distinct, thanks to diverse microclimates and unique local varietals.

You’d be hard-pressed to guess this is a naturally processed coffee, with the exaggerated tropical fruit flavours offering the only clue. Packed with complexity and fruit-driven from start to finish, this coffee embodies everything we look for when sourcing natural Ethiopian coffees.

Brewing Notes
Try starting with a 1:17 ratio and a higher brew temperature, around 94°C. Due to its exceptional clarity, this coffee simply gets sweeter and brighter with the higher temperature.
Single Origin Filter
Mutwewathi, Kenya
Aromatic and sparkling
Washed | Batian, SL28, SL34, Ruiru 11 | 1,800 masl
This AA fully washed lot was grown by smallholder farmers delivering cherries to Mutwewathi Factory in Kenya's Nyeri County, on the slopes of the Aberdare Ranges.
Blessed with rich volcanic soils, high elevations and an ideal climate, the region produces coffees with the distinctive complexity and character that Kenya is celebrated for.
Mutwewathi Factory is owned by the New Gikaru Farmers Co-operative Society (FCS), which was established in 2001 and now represents more than 4,600 members across five wet mills: Ichamara, Thangathi, Mutwewathi, Kahuro and Kiuu. Producers primarily cultivate SL28, SL34, Batian and Ruiru 11 varieties, with the FCS supporting sustainable farming practices through initiatives including Good Agricultural Practices (GAPs) training.

Los Tres Potros, El Salvador
Silky, sweet and layered
Natural | SL28 | 1,500 masl
This is the second year we have purchased coffee from Los Tres Potros, with last year featuring the Pacamara variety and this being the first year of the SL28 variety.
The farm's name translates to 'The Three Colts,' a reference to the family's three sons and their shared passion for coffee and horses. The estate was acquired by the family in 2001 and is operated as part of GECA Coffee, alongside other family-owned farms in the Apaneca-Ataco area.
Besides SL28, the farm grows Pacamara, Cuscatleco, Bourbon, Typica and Geisha varietals. Coffee is cultivated under native shade trees, with fertilisation managed organically and rainwater collection used for irrigation.
Los Tres Potros has been recognised multiple times at El Salvador's Cup of Excellence and was awarded the 'Presidential Coffee' title in 2016 with a score above 91 points.

SL28 is a varietal that continues to captivate coffee producers and drinkers around the world. Originally developed in Kenya, it is renowned for its expressive fruit character, often showcasing notes of blackcurrant and tropical fruit. It takes on a more delicate expression when grown in El Salvador, offering refined fruit complexity balanced by the region’s signature milk chocolate sweetness.
A silky and layered espresso, moving from milk chocolate through raspberry into navel orange.
Brewing Notes
We recommend starting with a 1:16.5 ratio and a finer grind, to enhance the coffee’s milk chocolate sweetness. Salvadoran coffees typically have a delicate acidity, and the shorter ratio helps create a sweet, balanced cup while maintaining its fruit character.
