SOURCING
We are committed to employing transparent and ethical sourcing policies to ensure a sustainable, quality coffee supply. Our access to established supply chains in key growing regions coupled with compliance with RFA, UTZ and ACO certifications guarantees quality certified single origin components delivering a high level of sustainability in our blends.
ROASTING
In 2017 we began to transition to Loring Roasters, and have now fully transitioned with a fleet of five roasters in Melbourne and Brisbane.
Our Loring Roasters use up to 70% less fuel and have lower emissions than equivalent sized traditional drum coffee roasters. With unique technology to eliminate smoke during the roasting process, hot air is recirculated to recycle that energy, as opposed to passing through the system or being lost to the environment.
PACKAGING
We use Australia’s first 100% recyclable coffee packaging for all our wholesale and retail coffee bags – the result of years of testing dozens of packaging options to find a solution which didn’t compromise the quality and freshness of our most important product
We offer a range of 100% biodegradable and compostable coffee bags, coffee capsules and sustainable packaging and logistics solutions. Our best practise waste management minimises any material waste meaning clean, sustainable product from end to end.
OUR INITIATIVES
CROP TO CROP™ TREE PLANTING
Our carbon offsetting program officially launches in Spring '22 and will see a tree planted in Australian regeneration forests for every equivalent 1000 cups of coffee we roast.
REUSABLE CUP INITIATIVES
In our cafes, all our takeaway packaging is either recyclable or biodegradable, and we take every opportunity to promote reusable cups over single use cups via in store discounts and education.
REGROUND WASTE MINIMALISATION
All coffee grounds, coffee chaff (by-product of roasting) and soft plastics are recycled through our partnership with Reground.
