Our Latest Newstead Blend Update

When we first created our Newstead Blend, it was a celebration of the opening of our cafe and roastery in Brisbane, and a reflection of the local community who drinks it. This month, we've introduced a fresh seasonal component.
Why the change?
To maintain the rich flavour that defines the Newstead Blend, we occasionally update the blend's components to reflect the best crops available at the time. Sometimes that means a fresh take from a familiar origin, and other times, a new component entirely.
No matter the source, our aim stays the same: to craft a blend that's beautifully balanced in milk and expressive as espresso – just as you've come to know and love.
A new Brazilian component: Rancho Fundo
We've welcomed a new Brazilian coffee to the blend: Rancho Fundo, grown by the Mendonça Araujo family in Minas Gerais, Brazil. Replacing the preceding Fazenda California component, Rancho Fundo brings a beautifully rounded cup profile, with rich milk chocolate and delicate fruit sweetness.
This lot is a result of decades of dedication to quality. Since the 1980s, the Araujo family has worked to enhance their farming practices, earning certifications including Rainforest Alliance and Fairtrade for their commitment to environmental stewardship. We’ve taken a thoughtful approach to roasting this coffee, extending the profile to draw out its natural sweetness and ensure a balanced, creamy cup.
What you'll taste
Newstead has always been about balance. With Rancho Fundo in the mix, that meeting of fruit-forward notes and comforting richness hits more than ever.
Tasting notes: Blueberry, cacao, hazelnut
With milk: Sweet and creamy with a caramel finish and silky texture
As a black coffee: Syrupy body with berry brightness and a lingering sweetness
Whether you're a flat white regular or a long black purist, Newstead is designed to cut through milk beautifully, while offering a clean and complex profile when enjoyed on its own.

Where your cup comes from
The updated Newstead Blend is now crafted from:
• 60% Rancho Fundo, Brazil
• 40% Hambela, Ethiopia
This combination brings a lush and satisfying experience to every cup, whether you drink your coffee black or with milk.
How to brew at home?
Newstead brings an elegant fruit sweetness and a nutty flavour profile to the cup. It's a contemporary blend with plenty of clarity, that is suited for all coffee drinkers.

Extraction Tips
A good extraction of our Newstead Blend will result in a juicy yet nutty espresso. Too acidic or savoury? Use a finer grind setting and increase your shot time. Too dry and bitter, or lacking acidity? Coarsen your grind and decrease your shot time.
