Two Exclusive Microlots from Café Granja La Esperanza

Café Granja La Esperanza specialise in the cultivation and production of rare, high altitude specialty coffee varietals, and we’re excited to have secured two exclusive microlots for limited release.

Both are unique in their own way – the first a Geisha, one of the most revered coffee varietals – and the other an X.O. processed coffee – a bespoke processing method developed and championed by La Esperanza. This pairing highlights the contrast of the unique flavours that are intrinsic the exotic Geisha variety as well as the vibrancy and intensity that extended fermentation can impart on a coffee. 

Café Granja La Esperanza was established over 90 years ago and their five farms in Colombia are amongst the most progressive and experimental plantations in the world. Best known for being the first to bring the sought-after Geisha varietal to Colombia, we’re pleased to be releasing one of their most recent Geishas: Las Margaritas, named for its farm.


The Las Margaritas farm is located in Caicedonia, Valle del Cauca – and is home to 13 different microlots.

This particular washed processed lot displays the full breadth of complexity and elegance within the Geisha varietal. We have kept the roast profile of this coffee lighter to highlight this along with its juicy acidity, silky body and wonderful floral characteristics.

With tasting notes of white peach, elderflower and manuka honey, it’s a holiday in a cup. Whether you’re a Geisha lover, or new to the varietal – you're in for a treat with this one.


Our second release is a ‘natural’ coffee processed using one of La Esperanza’s own unique process methods, which they have coined “X.O.”

This method elongates fermentation and drying time resulting in a fruity, tropical flavour profile for this coffee.

This light filter roast allows for clarity of flavour through which the symphony of fruit notes contained within this coffee can shine through. We selected notes of strawberry, fresh pineapple and green grape but there’s so much more to be found!

It's a tropical fruit punch that brings a fresh feeling of summer.

These coffees are a delightful pair, available for purchase separately or in a bundle if you want to get to know them both. We’ll be roasting for filter only on Wednesdays – shop presale now to be the first to enjoy! Further roasts will continue on Wednesdays throughout August and September to ensure you can enjoy these coffees a few times.
