Sugarcane Process
Our sugarcane decaf coffee is made using a natural decaffeination method that keeps the flavour intact—without the caffeine. Also known as the ethyl acetate process, this method uses a compound naturally derived from fermented sugarcane to gently remove caffeine from green coffee beans.
The process begins with a light steaming to open up the beans, followed by a soak in the sugarcane-derived solution that selectively bonds with caffeine. After rinsing and drying, the result is a deliciously smooth decaf coffee with all the character of its origin, and none of the bitterness often found in chemically processed decaf.
