In the last year INDUSTRY BEANS has forged direct trade relationships with a number of coffee growers across the globe. The arrival of spectacular fresh crop seasonal coffees from several of these growers has led us to reimagine our signature espresso blend. The new Fitzroy Street, now a three bean blend, retains the smooth and honey-sweet balance of lemon acidity and notes of hazelnut and caramel. The new composition gives emphasis to the blend's berry sweetness, making for an even more satisfying espresso experience.
30% WAHANA ESTATE, Indonesia
We have a fantastic direct trade relationship with these growers in Northern Sumatra, who are leading the way in the processing of specialty grade Indonesian coffee. This clean, refined semi-washed lot gives our blend its characteristic smooth, honey-sweet body.
40% MOUNT MOGIANA, Brazil
Grown by FAF Cooperative in the Mount Mogiana region of Brazil, this lot of natural processed Yellow and Red Bourbon varietals brings rich nutty caramel notes to the blend. We've enjoyed a good relationship with FAF Cooperative for three seasons and continue to be impressed at the quality of their specialty grade coffees.
30% SAN JOSE, El Salvador
Located on the outskirts of the Apaneca-Ilamatepec Mountain Ranges, Finca San Jose has been managed by the Carcamo family since 1968. This Bourbon varietal microlot brings a bright lemon acidity and an intense berry sweetness.
We're proud to announce that Industry Beans was named Melbourne's "Best Boutique Roaster of 2014" at The Age's Good Cafe Guide Awards last night. The Best Boutique Roaster category was awarded "for a specialty roaster who brings integrity to each stage of the process, from sourcing and selecting to roasting, brewing and educating." This pretty much sums up what drives and excites us - to bring a fantastic experience to Melbourne's coffee drinkers by being closely involved in every stage of the process, from crop to cup, and providing transparent and detailed information about each coffee.
We're very excited about the next stage of the journey we're embarking upon at Industry Beans. You'll still find us here in Fitzroy brewing coffee for the neighbourhood every day, but there is also a growing number of specialty coffee cafes in Melbourne, Sydney and across Australia who are proudly serving Industry Beans coffee. We're also excited to be roasting coffee for the expanding market of home brewers from across Australia who have been ordering freshly roasted coffee beans from our online shop. In addition, we're currently redesigning all the packaging for Industry Beans coffee - we'll be unveiling the brand new look in the coming months!
If you haven't already, connect with us on social media and subscribe to our online newsletter to get access to regular updates, promotions, special offers and feature articles about specialty coffee from our barista and roasting team.
At Industry Beans we take decaffeinated coffee seriously. Using the Swiss Water Process (SWP), an entirely chemical free method of removing the caffeine from coffee, it is possible to achieve what many believe is impossible: decaffeinated coffee that tastes truly delicious. Swiss Water Process goes to great lengths to retain the distinctive characteristics of the particular coffee being decaffeinated.
New to our coffee roster is a SWP Decaf coffee processed at Teka in Burundi - the country's only washing station to work at an elevation above 1900 masl. Grown on the same ridges as the coffee being delivered to Bwayi and Kinyovu, this is an immaculate coffee. As an espresso the Teka, Burundi has an aroma of caramel, balanced acidity, a silky mouthfeel, and notes of sweet apple and spice.
Order a bag from our online store and we'll post it to you, freshly roasted, anywhere in Australia.
Each season at Industry Beans we offer a new, limited release seasonal espresso blend. Now that winter is upon us we'd like to introduce you to the perfect cure for your seasonal blues. Winter, our seasonal blend, consists of two washed single origins - one grown at Finca Guadelupe in the Zarcero municipality of Costa Rica, the other on the north eastern slope of Mt. Kenya. These two coffees blend together for a rich and lively espresso experience with notes of sweet cherry, blackberry and spice.
Visit the Fitzroy Roastery to try this delicious seasonal blend - we'll be rocking it on the espresso machine over the coming months - or order yourself a bag from our online shop and we'll post it to you, freshly roasted, anywhere in Australia.

The Industry Beans Cafe and Roastery warehouse has been shortlisted for the 2014 Australian Interior Design Awards! We'd like to pass on our congratulations to Matt Rawlins and the team at Figureground Architecture for designing this vibrant and fluid space that allows us to transparently showcase our whole operation of sourcing, roasting and brewing of specialty coffee.
Missing the sunshine? We've got the perfect cure for your seasonal blues: the Autumn Roast, a rich and satisfying espresso blend.
A limited release seasonal blend, the Autumn Roast features two single origin coffees: a microlot from Santa Felisa Estate, one of Guatemala’s most respected growers, blended with a bold, refined coffee bean from Wahana Estate, one of Indonesia’s most innovative and progressive estates.
We have a direct relationship with Wahana Estate and continue to be blown away by the quality of their coffee. Located in the village of Lae Mungkur near Lake Toba in the Dairi district of North Sumatra, Wahana Estate's processing mills are leading the way in the processing of specialty grade Indonesian coffee. Santa Felisa estate, meanwhile, has been owned by the Meneses family for four generations and has a fantastic reputation. Located in the high altitude region of Acatenango, Guatemala, the estate has ideal microclimatic conditions for coffee growing. This particular microlot is from the San Antonio plot within the estate, grown on trees that are around 40 years old.
The two coffees blend together for a rich espresso experience with a very full, syrupy mouthfeel, a bright lemon acidity, notes of orange and apricot, and a long dark chocolate finish. We'll be serving this delicious blend on the espresso machine at the Industry Beans warehouse until winter arrives.
Order the Autumn Roast from our online shop and we'll post it to you, freshly roasted, anywhere in Australia.
